Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived today in Kashmir on his two day visit to the valley and Home Minister, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti jointly addressed 6000 youth and sportspersons at Indoor Sports Stadium Srinagar today.

Singh, who arrived at the state's summer capital today, is on visit to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Pertinently, Home Minister Rajnath Singh while being thankful to the youth of state for being positive in terms of development and prosperity lauded the leadership of Secretary JKSSC Waheed Ur Rehman Parra for taking the initiative of channelizing the energy of youth of state in a positive direction. He also offered confidence building measures to the youth ready to shun violence. The Centre had decided to withdraw cases against those "misled into stone pelting" as it was concerned about the future of Jammu and Kashmir's youth, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said today.

"We believe that children anywhere are the same. We understand that some youth were misled into stone pelting. Singh said :" There is extreme love in the heart of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Jammu and Kashmir." "It is our responsibility to provide a secure future to the youth of the state and it can be done with the power of education and miracle of sports," Singh added.

"Children can make mistakes... That is why we decided to withdraw the cases against those children who were involved in stone pelting," he said. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti appreciated the role of Sports Council and termed the youngsters and sportspersons present on the occasion as future of the state. Meanwhile eight prominent sports persons were also felicitated by Singh and Mehbooba.
